Ask My Agent Anything + Events!
Hi everyone.
This week for our ongoing workshop series for writers I’ll be talking to my own wonderful agent Seth Fishman on Wednesday at 6 pm about “When and How to Find the Right Literary Agent.” One of the things I love about Seth is how committed he is to transparency in the publishing industry, so this bodes well for our discussion being illuminating. Also, if you missed the “How to Pitch as a Minority” workshop from last week with NYT Bestselling author and ZORA senior editor Morgan Jerkins, here’s the link to the recording.
Since the past month has been a lot a lot, I’ve decided to go on hiatus with workshops until September so I and our wonderful volunteers can plan for the fall and the longterm sustainability of our writer community. Newsletter entries might be a bit more sporadic over the summer but I plan to keep writing them; looking forward to talking writing nuts and bolts again rather than just promoting myself. :) Folks have also been planning to keep getting together so be in touch over our Facebook Group and Slack channel.
EVENTS WITH WONDERFUL FOLKS
Tomorrow at 8 ET/7 CT, I’ll be talking to my brilliant friend, award-winning novelist Téa Obreht about Fairest for a virtual event with Women and Children First! Téa and I did our Fiction MFA together at Cornell so if you’re curious about what that environment was like, I’m sure that’s something we’ll talk about. REGISTER HERE
Wednesday I’ll be with A Year Without a Name author Cyrus Dunham for Lambda Literary and Friday I’m doing an amazing event with Kiese Laymon and Jaquira Diaz for Race Forward, then an event with Black trans author and advocate Precious Davis for Left Bank Books. Whew!
Also I’m still offering free copies of Fairest to QTPOC folks who can’t afford it; more info here.
Talk soon,
Meredith
