Find a Way to Fight Today
This community grew out of the impulse to promote a fairer environment for writers everywhere. But today, I can’t ignore how in the United States, the state continues to murder Black and brown people in plain sight.
It’s a day when writing is simply not enough; it’s a day when I’m choosing to go out and protest so that collectively, we can show the state that we will not tolerate the grave injustices Black and brown people in America experience very day.
This guide, 26 Ways to Be in the Struggle Beyond the Streets, written by Ejeris Dixon and a group of folks, is helpful if you can’t be out in public, especially during this time of pandemic.
Donating to orgs bailing out protesters is also particularly useful right now. The Minnesota Freedom Fund is now directing people to donate to other orgs like the Atlanta Solidarity Fund, the Brooklyn Community Bail Fund, or a bail fund in your area.
But find and join a protest if you can. Let’s work together toward building an America where, at the very least, everyone can be out in public without the significant risk of dying for no reason.
