Talk to Your Friends + Upcoming Events
One of the big perks of my life right now is that I get to talk to friends while also being of help to other people. For the writers among you, this is a reminder that I have a virtual Zoom workshop tonight, 6/10 at 6pm EST with good friend and wonderful ¡Hola Papi! advice columnist and author JP Brammer, who will discuss “How Build and Use to Use Your Online Platform for Good” with me. Next week I’ll have NYT Bestselling author and Zora senior editor Morgan Jerkins with me so watch out for that.
I also have a virtual event for Fairest tomorrow night. I’ll be in conversation with another good friend Amber Tamblyn on 6/11 at 9pm EST/6 PST for Skylight Books, an especially good time for West Coast folks. REGISTER HERE
Amber and I have been close ever since we bonded over being former child stars over dinner when we met. I’ve had many amazing conversations with her about the pernicious effects of white patriarchy, so it feels good to be doing this event with Amber as we continue to protest against anti-Blackness while dealing with attacks on trans people both on and offline.
Still trying to get a handle on the chaos of our times so I don’t have a well-considered missive today, except to say I’ve recently fallen back into the habit of talking to friends on the phone and I have to say it’s wonderful. As a creature of routine whose habits have been disrupted over the past few weeks, talking to people I’m close to one-on-one has been really grounding. Looking forward to more of those conversations as we all figure out how to go on from here.
Also btw, it was my first wedding anniversary last Monday, which was part of why I was reminded of good friends:
Talk soon,
Meredith
